SLUICE GATES MADE FROM EKKI

The natural resistance of Ekki to acids and other chemical agents is an important factor in the use of this species. Due to these qualities, Ekki does not need to be protected by any preservatives, witch would only dissolve in the water resulting in additional pollution.
Contrary to metallic gates, Ekki dos not require any maintenance, in fact only the metal pieces need to be replaced.
Furthermore, the elasticity of this wood means that it can receive heavy shocks without being damaged.

Sea defences and the coatings of metallic doors are most often in Ekki wood, as here in Bristol (G.B.). bristol Ijmuiden The biggest sluice in the world (opposite) during the "dressing" of the sluice gate in Ekki at Ijmuiden (Holland) in the canal of the North sea in Amsterdam.
