VIOLET WOOD Heartwood violet colour, more or less dark accentuating over time. Sapwood differentiated; pale rose to greyish white. Fine grain with presence of pores. Edge straight although sometimes wavy. High shrinkage. |

BASRALOCUS
Heartwood brown with gold flecks (white Basralocus),or violet brownish ; (red Basralocus), exceptionnaly an amaranth colour. Sapwood is well differentiated from the heartwood, being some 2 to 10cm thick. Average grain. Straight edge. |

BAGASSE
(Tatajuba) Heartwood yellow-beige or yellow taking a brown tint when subjected to the light. Darkens with age. The sapwood is yellowish, very distinct and between 2 and 4cm thick. The grain is fairly coarse. With the edge sometimes being straight, but also cross grained. |
Interior and exterior joinery. Second choice for framework. | |

COURBARIL
Heartwood orange brown, greenish when it is wet, becoming a general brown colour when dry. Fine grain, with a slightly straight edge. Little or not cross grained. |
Used for veneers. Decorative uses. The wood is stable and not very sensitive to changes in humidity. Parquets, stairways. Needs to be treated if used for exterior purposes. | |

PARTRIDGE WOOD Heartwood dark brownish red, composed of abundant and clearer Parenchyma giving a leafy or stripped effect. The sapwood is well differentiated from the heartwood and has a yellowish tint, being 3 to 4cm thick. The grain is average to coarse and has generally straight edge. |
