When the terrain is ready to use, (homogenous terrain without blocks),
ekki piles are more economic than those in steel or concrete.
Other species of wood with weaker densities are prevented from being used.
Ekki piles can be put in to use without any form of treatment, witch results in an absence of pollution
from metallic salts or creosote.
Shutters are aesthetic and always of a uniform colour and have a durability of around
25 years.
Due to the damage that is often done by boats, the strong elasticity
of wood provides important advantages in comparison to concrete or steel : less damaging to boats is done
as wood can support important modifications in form and absorb a part of the kinetic energy in case of a shock.
The repairing of shutters is also easier.

Planks are held together by trapezoidal tongue and groove joints maintained by a LIERNE witch is also in ekki.
The classic anchorage is made up of pile panels linked by rigid struts.
Special pieces of ekki allow for the rapid changing of direction. For the curves, an adapted
profile allows for weak rays.
The length of piles can pass 8m and be up to 12cm thick.
